North Boulevard Town Square, the first phase of implementation for the Baton Rouge Riverfront Master Plan, has begun.

The North Boulevard Town Square groundbreaking took place Friday, Jan. 14 commencing construction of the first project to be implemented from the Riverfront Master Plan along with the redesign of Galvez Plaza. The ceremony was attended by Mayor-President Melvin "Kip" Holden, U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, members of the Metro-Council, the Downtown Development District and the Department of Public Works. "Baton Rouge has such a unique set of civic and cultural attractions that will be highlighted as they merge together in North Boulevard Town Square. With our visionary Mayor and supportive Metropolitan Council, we celebrate this unique groundbreaking for all citizens of the area." commented Davis Rhorer, Executive Director of the Downtown Development District.

With the support of Mayor “Kip” Holden we are proud to include a permanent stage component within Galvez Plaza. This stage will showcase the talent of Trahan architects and provide a permanent venue for all to enjoy. As progress continues to take place, we will keep everyone updated on the project milestones. We encourage you to take time and view the illustrative plan below and see what all the excitement is about.
